Rain, Rain, Go Away

A considerable amount of our time in Paris has been spent hoping that the dark rain clouds will pass making room for the sun or dodging anywhere from light drizzle to heavy downpour. Now, I will admit that there have been at least 2 or 3 sunny days during these last three weeks and not all days have been rainy, they have just mostly threatened all day turning the beautiful city in an oasis of drab gray.

When you look at brochures or hear about people’s trip to Paris you almost never see rain or hear stories about rain. And while most of the world from Boston to Budapest has been experiencing rain in recent weeks, they only spanned a week making way for sunny days in the high 80’s. But not here in Paris. Temperatures have also seemed unseasonable and low sometimes only getting up to the mid 50’s. I guess I wouldn’t notice this as much had we not just spent four months in Spain, the majority in southern Spain where early March temperatures in Seville felt more late spring like than what we have been experiencing in Paris in late May.

Each night before I go to bed I check the weather on my iPhone hoping for at least one or two clear rain-free sunny days in the nine-day forecast. No such luck. Last night’s peek at the forecast revealed the following (see sad photo below) which was quite a let down since we leave Paris next Monday morning. I guess we’ll just need to make the best of our final week in Paris, rain or shine.
